Play Online Casino Games

Video poker offers a poker simulation that can be played at a fraction of the cost of its table counterpart. Just like slot machines, each additional coin wagered increases the amount of the payout.

Object of the Game
In video poker there is no opponent, so the objective is to simply get the highest ranking hand possible.

How to Play

The video poker screen displays three values:

  • Paid - The number of coins won from the last hand.
  • credits - The total number of coins remaining in your balance. This value will adjust according to the coin denomination setting of the video poker machine.
  • coins - The number of coins to be bet on the next hand.

The video poker machine also has four buttons:

  • Cash Out : Resets the number of coins being bet to 0, returning them to your balance. You may only cash out prior to starting the deal.
  • Deal/Draw : When at least one coin has been bet, the deal/draw button will become enabled. The first time the deal/draw button is clicked, the game begins and the initial hand is dealt. Once the player has chosen which cards to hold (keep), the deal/draw button can be clicked a second time to draw the replacement cards and complete the game.
  • Bet Max : Allows the player to quickly bet the maximum number of coins permitted by the machine and immediately deal the initial hand.
  • Bet One : Bets one coin at a time. Once the desired number of coins is bet, the player must begin the game by clicking the deal/draw button.

The Bets.  Select a denomination for the video poker machine by using the buttons below the "Select coin value" label. This will set the value of each coin played. Next, deposit one to five coins into the machine -- use the Bet One button to bet one coin at a time, or use Bet Max button to bet the maximum coins allowed by the machine (balance permitting). Finally, click on the Deal/Draw button to deal the initial hand. Note that the Bet Max button will automatically cause the initial hand to be dealt.

The Cards.  Cards are ranked in order of their face value, with aces considered "high". The ranking is from lowest to highest: 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, Jack, Queen, King, Ace. Some games make use of Wild Cards (ie. a joker, or any deuce) that can be used as any other card (rank and suit) to improve the hand. Read further in this help document for the details of how the cards are used by each of the Video Poker game variation.

The Deal.  Five initial cards will be dealt to the player, of which, the player may choose to hold (keep) any, all, or none. The player will then have one opportunity to replace all of the cards that were not held with new cards drawn from the deck. The final hand, made up of the cards held from the initial hand (if any) plus any newly drawn cards, will determine the result of the game. The higher the rank of the final hand, the greater the payout.

When you receive a hand that earns a payout, you may have the option to Double Up . The Double Up feature is a "double or nothing" proposition whereby you can play a bonus game for chance to double your winnings for that hand. See "Double Up Feature" later in this help for more information.

Payouts
Video Poker payouts vary depending on the number of coins wagered, and the rank of the final poker hand achieved. There is no opponent in Video Poker, so the player must simply try to achieve the highest ranking hand. The higher the rank of the hand, the greater the payout.

The Video Poker machine displays a table of payouts at the top of the screen. Each line in the table shows the poker hand and the resulting payouts (shown as the total number of coins paid) depending on the number of coins bet.

A typical line in the payout chart may look similar to:

The first column displays the name of the poker hand for which this payout applies (see the following page for examples of the various poker hands). The columns to the right of the hand name show the number of coins paid if this hand is achieved. The first column lists the number of coins paid if 1 coin was bet when the game started. The other columns list the number of coins paid if 2, 3, 4, or 5 coins were bet.

The example above shows that if the player bets 1 coin and achieves a Royal Flush , the player is paid a total of 400 coins. If the player had bet 2, 3, 4, or 5 coins, the payout would have been 800, 1200, 1600, and 4000 respectively. The denomination of the coins paid is the same as the denomination of the coin bet.

Note that most Video Poker games offer a larger payout for a Royal Flush when the maximum 5 coins are played. Whereas the payout for a Royal Flush with 1 to 4 coins played is 400 coins per coin played, the payout for a Royal Flush with 5 coins played is 800 coins per coin played!

The Double Up feature, if available, allows you to play a bonus game to double your winnings. Each time you successfully double up , your payout doubles. However, if you fail to win a double up bonus game, you lose all the winnings earned for that hand. If you choose not to double up at any time, the game ends and you keep all the winnings earned for that hand.

For example: if you receive a Straight Flush in the Deuces Wild game with 5 coins played, you win 45 coins and you have the option to double up . If you choose to double up and win the bonus game, you would be paid 90 coins! If you decide double up again and win, you would then be paid 180 coins! However, if you lost the bonus game, you would be paid nothing and the game would end.

Video Poker Details

All American Poker is played with one standard 52 card deck with no wild cards. The lowest ranking hand with a payout consists of any pair of Jacks, Queens, Kings, or Aces.

Deuces Wild is played with one standard 52 card deck with all four deuces (2's) considered wild cards. It should be noted that in Deuces Wild a Wild Royal Flush (a Royal Flush that makes use of a wild card) ranks higher than a Five Of A Kind , and a hand containing all four deuces ranks second only to a natural Royal Flush .

Jacks or Better is played with one standard 52 card deck with no wild cards. The lowest ranking hand with a payout consists of any pair of Jacks, Queens, Kings, or Aces.

Joker Poker is played with one standard 52 card deck plus an extra joker that is considered a wild card. It should be noted that in Joker Poker a Five Of A Kind ranks higher than a Wild Royal Flush (a Royal Flush that makes use of a wild card).

Tens or Better : Tens or Better is played with one standard 52 card deck with no wild cards. The lowest ranking hand with a payout consists of any pair of Tens, Jacks, Queens, Kings, or Aces.

Placing Bets

Video poker bets are determined by the value/denomination of the coins being played. The bottom of the video poker machine has a small digital coin value display that allows you to select from five different coin denominations. As you change the value of the coins being played, you'll notice that the number of credits adjusts itself accordingly.

For example: $100 will provide the user with 400 25¢ credits
(100 ÷ 0.25 = 400). If you increase the coin value to $5, the number of credits drops to 20 (100 ÷ 5 = 20).

All payouts are made using the coins with the same denomination as those wagered.

The video poker screen displays 3 values:

  • Paid - The number of coins won from the last hand.
  • Credits - The total number of coins remaining in your balance. This value will adjust according to the coin denomination setting of the video poker machine.
  • Coins - The number of coins to be bet on the next hand.

To place your bet before dealing the cards, click the Bet One button to bet one coin at a time. Each time you click the Bet One button, you will notice that one coin is removed from the credits value, and the coins value increases by one. Also, you'll see the column corresponding to the number of coins you have bet turn red at the top of the screen. Video poker accepts a maximum of bet of 5 coins (balance permitting). If you have sufficient credits remaining, you can click the Bet Max button to quickly bet the maximum 5 coins and immediately start the deal.

Click the Cash Out button if you wish to return any coins you have bet to your balance. This effectively takes the number of coins shown in the coins display, and returns them to your total credits . You may only use the Cash Out button prior to starting the deal.

Starting the deal
If you click the Bet Max button, the maximum 5 coins are bet and the deal begins automatically. If you choose to bet one coin at a time using the Bet One button you must manually start the deal by clicking the Deal/Draw button.

Once the cards have been dealt, you have the option to hold (keep) any of, all of, or none of these 5 cards (see below).

Any card that is not held will be replaced when you draw replacement cards by clicking the Deal/Draw a second time. You should hold any cards you feel will contribute to the best hand possible.

To hold a card, either click on the card itself, or click the Hold button located just below the card you want held. You may also click the Hold All button to quickly mark all of the cards as held , or click the Clear All button to remove the held status from any/all cards.

Once you are done selecting which card(s) to hold (if any at all), click the Deal/Draw button a second time to draw your replacement cards. Any card that was not held will be replaced by a new card. The game is now complete and the resulting hand determines your payout.

Double up Feature
When you receive a hand that earns a payout, you may have the option to Double Up . The Double Up feature is a "double or nothing" proposition whereby you can play a bonus game for chance to double your winnings for that hand. If you win the bonus game, your payout is doubled and you may have the opportunity to Double Up again. However, should you fail to win the bonus game at any time, you lose all of your winnings for that hand. Note that there may be a cap on the number of times you may Double Up as well as a cap on the maximum payout earned by this feature.

The double up bonus game is simple. To start the double up bonus game, click yes when prompted to " Double Up? ". Five new cards will then be dealt after re-shuffling the deck. The first card, called the house card, will be turned over while the other four cards will remain face-down. To win the bonus game, you must select one of the four unrevealed cards which you think will rank higher than the house card. If the card you select has a higher rank than the house card, you win and your payout is immediately doubled. However, if you select a card with a lower rank, you will lose all of the winnings earned for this hand and the game will end. If the two cards are of the same rank, you payout will remain the same and you will have the option to double up again or stop and keep your current payout.

If the house card is a 2, you will win with any card except another 2 (where your payout will remain unchanged). If the house card is an Ace, you must select another Ace in order not to lose all of your winnings. Be aware that the five cards for the bonus game are dealt randomly from the re-shuffled deck. Therefore, it is possible that none of the four unrevealed cards are of higher rank than the house card.
